My highschool jazz band from New Zealand spent much time practicing and perfecting this piece. Although we initially came from different social groups, through regular meetings and rehearsals which extended to outside school hours, we became very close to each other. We became a 'community of practice' sharing jazz related jokes and references which we can still appreciate after two years since graduation (Wenger, 1998 in Ansdell, 2010). When listening to and practicing this piece I still identify myself as a member of the band no matter how long it has been since we were physically united.
